Thailand’s Supreme claim SAVA championship
Last week, Thailand’s Supreme TIP Chonburi – E.Tech claimed the championship title at the SAVA Women’s Volleyball Club Championship. The tournament took place at the MCC Hall, The Mall Bangkapi in Bangkok.
With only two teams competing in the zonal tournament, the event concluded with a single gold-medal match between the host side Supreme TIP Chonburi – E.Tech and Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An.
In front of approximately 1,000 enthusiastic fans, the Thai side, coached by former national team star Wilavan Apinyapong, secured a 3-1 victory (25-23, 25-16, 26-28, 25-19) over their Vietnamese opponents to take the Southeast Asian zonal crown.
The win also earned the team a qualification spot for the AVC Women’s Champions League, which is set to take place in Goyang, South Korea, in late April.
Kuttika Kaewpin, the 31-year-old outside hitter from Supreme, was named the match’s top scorer with 28 points, including 24 attacks, 3 aces, and 1 block. For VTV Binh Dien, Dang Thi Kim Thanh led her team with 23 points.
