Evropis Universiteti Claims Women's Snow Volleyball Title in Georgia

Evropis Universiteti Tbilisi has been crowned champions of the Georgian Women’s National Snow Volleyball Championship, held in Bakuriani over the weekend. The team finished on top of the podium, with Jiko Samtredia taking silver and UG Tbilisi claiming bronze.

Held from Friday to Sunday in Bakuriani—Georgia’s premier snow volleyball destination—the women’s championship followed the men’s tournament at the same location. Played at an altitude of around 1,700 meters in the Trialeti mountain range, the event featured 14 teams competing across four round‑robin groups before advancing to knockout stages including quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches.
 
In Sunday’s gold medal match, Evropis Universiteti Tbilisi defeated Jiko 1 Samtredia in straight sets to secure the national title and a 2,500 GEL prize. Jiko 1 Samtredia finished as runners‑up with 2,000 GEL.

 
UG Tbilisi repeated its men’s tournament success by taking bronze, sweeping Jiko 2 Samtredia in straight sets in the third‑place playoff and earning 1,500 GEL.
 
Irina Chelidze, 32, from the champion Evropis Universiteti team, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the championship.
