Cornacchia Cup Finals: Russia U17 Women’s Volleyball Team Beat Italy 3-0 to Claim Championship
2026-04-25
Recently, the 2026 Cornacchia U17 Youth Volleyball Cup concluded its exciting final match in Pordenone, Italy. As a high-level youth volleyball event in Europe, the tournament gathered many outstanding teenage teams from across Europe. All players showed good physical fitness and solid basic skills, bringing intense and wonderful confrontations to the court, attracting wide attention from the youth volleyball circle in Europe and America.

The competition was open to U17 youth volleyball teams, focusing on international exchange and practical training. The final was a highly anticipated showdown between the host Italy U17 women’s volleyball team and the powerful Russia U17 women’s volleyball team. The whole match featured fierce serving contests, tight net blocking and fast attacking rhythms. The on-site atmosphere was enthusiastic, and both sides competed with full fighting spirit from the first whistle.
In the final, the Russia U17 team performed steadily and excellently from the very beginning. They launched a strong offensive with a 17-0 opening run, completely destroying the receiving rhythm of the Italian side. The Russian players coordinated perfectly in attack and defense, with accurate blocking at the net, solid rear-court defense and sharp spiking. They never gave the host team a chance to fight back. Finally, Russia defeated Italy straight sets with the scores of 25-6, 25-12 and 25-7. The team won all seven matches without losing a single set and successfully won the championship. Although the Italian teenagers tried their best, they made too many technical errors in key rounds and failed to keep up with the opponent’s defensive rhythm, ending up as the runner-up at home.

Referees and coaches spoke highly of the final. They said the high-intensity competition effectively improved the players’ on-the-spot resilience and tactical adaptability. It also provided a good platform for European and American youth volleyball teams to exchange skills and experience, helping all teams optimize their youth training systems.
After the match, both teams carefully reviewed their strengths and weaknesses. They will strengthen targeted training in the following days and actively prepare for the European U17 Youth Volleyball Championship in the second half of the year, striving for better results in future international competitions.
