2026 National Women's Ice Hockey Championship Concludes in Shenzhen, Guangdong Women's Ice Hockey Team Claims Back-to-Back Championship

In the opening period, in the 2nd minute of play, Liu Xin from Team Guangdong took a snapshot from the blue line, which was blocked by the opposition goaltender. In the 7th minute, Yang Jinglei circled behind the net and cut to the front of the goal for a shot that was also blocked. At the 19-minute mark, Zhao Qinan unleashed a powerful shot from the blue line only to be denied again. On the defensive end, Liu Yuchan made several crucial saves to stop opposing scoring chances. At the end of the first period, Team Guangdong trailed in shots on goal by a margin of 6 to 10.

Heading into the second period, Team Guangdong ramped up its offensive pressure. At 30:45, Yang Jinglei delivered a lead pass, Liu Zhixin slid the puck across the slot, and Fang Xin buried a tight-angle shot from the left wing to open the scoring, putting Guangdong ahead 1-0. This marked Fang Xin’s third goal of the tournament. At 32:45, Liu Xin was penalized for tripping, forcing Guangdong to play shorthanded. At 33:56, Yang Jinglei launched a counterattack and rang a shot off the goalpost, before Zhao Qinan tapped home the rebound on a sharp-angle chance from the right wing to double the lead to 2-0, notching her fourth goal of the competition. Team Guangdong dominated shots on goal in the second period with a 19-11 advantage.

Carrying a two-goal cushion into the third period, Team Guangdong controlled the tempo with composed play. At 42:59, Xing Lixue set up Pi Yunlin to extend the lead to 3-0. At 49:31, Pi Yunlin scored her second goal of the game with assists from Liu Xin and Wang Jiaxin, making the score 4-0 overall, which was also her fourth goal of the championship. Team Guangdong held a 15-5 edge in shots on goal in the final frame.

By the final buzzer, Team Guangdong sealed a 4-0 shutout victory to secure back-to-back national championships. Across the full game, Guangdong posted a 40-26 lead in total shots on goal. The two sides accumulated 4 minutes and 6 minutes in penalty time respectively. Goaltender Liu Yuchan turned aside 26 shots to earn a shutout win.

With the championship and runner-up decided, the final overall rankings of the 2026 National Women's Ice Hockey Championship were confirmed. The Guangdong Provincial Women's Ice Hockey Team retained its crown, the Beijing Municipal Women's Ice Hockey Team finished as runners-up, and the Qiqihar Municipal Women's Ice Hockey Team took third place.

The tournament organizing committee also unveiled individual awards. Zhang Mengying from the Qiqihar Municipal Women's Ice Hockey Team was named Best Forward. Zhao Qinan of Team Guangdong received the Best Defenceman honour, while her teammate Liu Yuchan was awarded Best Goaltender. The 2026 National Women's Ice Hockey Championship officially closed its curtains at Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star Ice Hockey Club.

Hosted by the Chinese Ice Hockey Association and undertaken by Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star Ice Hockey Club Co., Ltd., the tournament fully adopted the latest IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) competition rules. Seven participating teams were divided into two groups via random draw. Teams competed in a round-robin format during the group stage, with every fixture playing a pivotal role in qualification standings, leading to fierce competition throughout.

Making its debut appearance at the 2025 National Women's Ice Hockey Championship, Team Guangdong defied expectations and fought its way to a historic national title, writing a remarkable chapter for ice hockey in South Guangdong. This year, fending off fierce challenges from all competitors, the squad maintained steady performances and accomplished its title defence mission.
